Abstract : The meaningful participation of children and young people (CYP) in combating commercial sexual exploitation of children (CSEC) is an integral part of ECPAT’s work. As a network of child rights organisations, it not only ensures that we are fulfilling a basic right of children to be able to express their views in decisions concerning them (Article 12 of the Convention on the Rights of the Child) but we see clearly how it strengthens our programming and advocacy work and makes us more accountable to the children we work for. This report illustrates that the participation of children and young people occurs at many different levels within our global network: from the design, development, management and monitoring of programmes at the grassroots level to policy influencing and advocacy at national, regional and international levels.
